Because lead adds massive weight, standard hinges would sag; this pivot is heavily load-bearing to prevent that. Straddle Layout: The unique screw hole pattern is engineered to "straddle" the internal lead lining sheet in the core of the door. This ensures the screws securely anchor into the wood or metal structure without piercing or compromising the protective lead shield. Door Alignment: Intermediate pivots are not meant to carry the vertical load on their own (that is the job of the bottom pivot or floor closer).
