Clutch Assembly for Marvin Balance
Used on Marvin ITDH (Integrity Traditional Double Hung) windows.

How to replace balance tubes:
1. Remove both the upper and lower sash.
2. Insert a screwdriver into the clutch cams. While holding onto the screwdriver firmly with both hands, rotate the cams to the horizontal released position. Slide the clutch to the bottom of the balance tube. (see image 3, step 2)
3. Remove the parting stop with a needle nose pliers. (On Special Size Units remove the sash stop for access to balance tube plug. Remove the plug with a needle nose pliers). (see image 3, step 3)
4. Remove the jamb carrier with a needle nose pliers. Be sure to grab the cover by the interior side, away from the foam weather strip. (see image 4, step 4)
5. Remove the balance tube from the frame by pushing up on the tube, releasing the hanger clip from the hole in the jamb. (see image 4, step 5)
6. Removing the foam block at the top of the balance tube channel makes for easier installation of the new balance tube but is optional. (see image 5, step 6)
7. Position the hanger clip so that it sticks out from the balance tube. (see image 5, step 7)
8. If removed earlier, replace the foam balance tube block at the top of the balance tube channel. (Waiting to replace this block until after the new balance tube is installed may make installing the balance easier.)
9. Make sure the clutches on the new balance are in the released, horizontal position. Slide the new balance tube up into the balance tube channel in the frame. The hanger clip should engage in the hole in the frame. Tug firmly on the balance to make sure the clip is properly seated in the hole. (see image 6, step 9)
10. Reinstall the jamb carrier starting at the sill. Fit the cover over the sill block then press into place, working your way up the jamb. (see image 6, step 10)
11. Replace the head jamb parting stop being careful not to tear the jamb weather strip.
