<p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong><u>Lock Removal:</u></strong><u> </u></span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">There are 4 spring loaded tabs that hold the Mortise lock in the storm door, even when faceplate screws are removed. </span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">Use small pry bar or stiff putty knife and the spring loaded tabs will retract when removing lock body.</span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">Put a piece of cardboard between screwdriver and door to prevent marring or chipping paint </span><br /><br /><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong><u>Cylinder Removal:</u></strong><u> </u></span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">The cylinder screw needs to be removed to take the keyed cylinder out of door. </span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">The cylinder has a cam in the center that rotates to lock and unlock the door </span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">The cylinder only comes out when the cam is in the proper position. </span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">To Remove cylinder turn thumb turn slowly and pull, when the cam is in alignment the cylinder will come out. </span><br /><span style="font-size:18px;">Replacement cylinder must be made by Pella.
