Egress hinge provides Approximately 2-5/8 inch wider opening to meet code requirements on Emergency Exit.

International Building Code advises that every bedroom must contain at least one egress window.
Basically, The operable portion of the window must be at least 24-inches high and at least 20-inches wide, with a net area at least 5.7 square feet, with an opening no higher than 44 inches from the floor. Check local codes for more information.
